Soccer Pools - The Pools

The Australian Soccer Pools (referred to as The Pools or in New South Wales the 6 from 38 Pools) is different from many of the lotteries available in Australia because winners are not determined by numbers drawn but by results from association football matches. To participate players have to refer to the week's Match List and from this list they are required to choose 6 from a possible 38 weekend soccer matches. The list does contain up to 60 matches but the remainder are reserve matches, those that replace main fixtures that are postponed or cancelled so for the most part players will choose numbers between 1 and 38.

The results of these fixtures will determine the winning numbers for Soccer Pools (The Pools or 6 from 39 Pools) game. When all the games have played then they will be ranked in order from highest to lowest:

• Score draw (ie. 3 – 3 or 1 – 1)
• No score draw (0 – 0)
• Win for the away team
• Win for the home team

The six highest ranked games based on the above will become the winning numbers for Soccer Pools (The Pools or 6 from 39 Pools) . In some cases two games will have the same score and in this instance the higher game number is ranked highest (for example: game 19 highest, game 5 lowest). There is also a supplementary number that is determined by the match that is ranked seventh.

Entries for the Soccer Pools (The Pools or 6 from 39 Pools) close at 2pm on a Saturday during the Australian (Southern Hemisphere) season and 7pm on Saturday during the European (Northern Hemisphere) season. All of the results are determined on a Monday.

There are five winning prize tiers for Soccer Pools and the estimated Division One prize pool $65,000 but this jackpot can rollover progressively if it is not won. The odds of winning a Division One prize are 1 : 2,760,681.
