Fourth Triple Rollover
Triple rollovers are things that UK Lotto players dream of. My previous blog entry made it very clear just how much I like lottery rollovers, and when I penned that piece I was thinking about the double rollover jackpot of Wednesday. Now I’m looking forward to an even more sumptuous triple rollover on Saturday, and as anyone who knows me would be happy to confirm, I’m beside myself with anticipation.
What makes Lotto triple rollovers extra special is that they can’t be rolled over again. If nobody wins the jackpot by matching all six main numbers this Saturday, the jackpot cash will be paid out to the players who match five main numbers and the bonus ball. And if there are no winners there, the jackpot rolls down to the next level (won by matching five main numbers), and so on until every penny is paid out.
The National Lottery game was introduced to the UK way back in November, 1994, but this Saturday’s triple rollover is only the fourth one we’ve had, so they are pretty rare events. The last triple occurred in November, 2007, and you can read about it here. Before that, two tickets won the jackpot of 14 October, 2006, and the story of a lucky couple who bought one of them can be found here.
Will yours be the next triple rollover success story that I get talk about when the next one comes around? Or will I, the Lotteryman, get lucky myself? The beauty of lotteries is that both of these outcomes are possible, and the beauty of triple rollover draws is that, potentially, we can win a fortune even if we miss out on the jackpot – as long as everyone else misses out as well.
My fingers are crossed for all of us. Good luck, and let me know if you win!
