Thunderball Stuck
Watching the Thunderball get stuck on Saturday night was something that we are fortunate we don’t have to do on a regular basis, but the fact that it happened brought confusion to many players. For those who didn’t see the draw on BBC television the numbers drawn were 11, 16, 30, 32 and 33. Then it was time to draw the Thunderball, and the number 2 ball got stuck midway down the exit chute.
At this point, viewers all over the UK were asking themselves a number of questions. Did this mean that the number 2 ball was the Thunderball? Would the draw be declared void and a new draw take place? And, of course, why did the ball get stuck in the first place?
Camelot announced that the draw would stand as it was, with the Thunderball being 2. This no doubt came as a great relief to anyone who had already matched some of the main numbers and were waiting for the number 2 to take them to the higher prize level, but the whole affair proved to be a very embarrassing situation for the National Lottery operators.
Camelot have said that they will be conducting a full investigation into the glitch, and they probably made the best possible decision in allowing the draw to stand. After all, the number 2 had been selected at random, it was just having a hard time emerging from the tube.
I’ll keep my lottery constipation joke to myself in the interests of good taste...
