Win the Lottery
Lottery games do not involve one iota of skill or talent, and the outcome of any lottery is determined entirely by chance. This means that the odds of you winning any lottery are fixed and inflexible. The odds of you winning Euromillions this Friday are 1 in 76,275,360. The odds will be exactly the same next Friday and every Friday after that unless the basic rules of the game itself are changed at some point.
After saying all of that, why did I choose to name today's lottery blog post "Win the lottery"? Well, the rational explanation is that, although you can never change the odds of you winning a lottery, you can increase the number of times you win simply by purchasing more tickets. If buying one Euromillions ticket gives you a 1 in 76,275,360 chance of winning the jackpot, then buying ten Euromillions tickets will give you ten chances of winning, and buying even more tickets would obviously give you even more chances.
Of course, lottery tickets cost money, so buying ten, twenty or more tickets each and every week is not an economical option for most of us. That's why I highly recommend playing as a member of a lottery syndicate.
A lottery syndicate is simply a group of like-minded lottery enthusiasts who put their weekly lottery cash together to buy a batch of shared tickets. The agreement is that any prizes that are won by any of the tickets will be shared equally between the members. So, if you form a syndicate with a total of ten members, and you each pay for two tickets, your syndicate can buy a total of twenty tickets. If one of those wins a jackpot of, say, ten million, each member would get a share worth one million.
Now there are always people who read about syndicates and then argue that winning one million is not nearly as good as winning ten million, but the whole point of playing as a syndicate is that you have more chance of winning in the first place. Given the choice between not winning ten million and winning one million, I think the latter option is a bit more sensible!
Playing as a syndicate doesn't guarantee a big win by any means, but if you look at the news stories about jackpot winners you will notice that a significant proportion of top prizes are won by syndicates. For me, that's proof enough that the concept is viable, and if you're interested in playing as a syndicate member, stay tuned because in my next post I'll explain how to form your own syndicate from scratch...
