Dream Number

The last ever Dream Number draw took place on Wednesday 9 February 2011, making the following details for information purposes only.

Dream Number was a rather unique lottery game for three reasons. First, it gave players a randomly selected seven digit number instead of requiring them to pick their own numbers. Second, it required a player to get their numbers picked in the right order for them to win a prize. And third, 28% of the ticket price (28p from every £1) went directly towards the fund for the London Olympics in 2012. Dream number replaced Lotto Extra in July 2006. In February 2011 Dream Number ended and was replaced by the new Lotto Plus 5 (click here to for details). The details below are for information purposes only.

Our step-by-step guide to playing Dream Number is as follows:

Complete Your Dream Number Play Slip

Despite the fact that you didn’t get to choose your own numbers when playing the Dream Number game, you still needed to submit a play slip. You could either mark the “Enter this Dream Number” option that could be found on a standard Lotto play slip or you could use a separate Dream Number play slip. The latter was the best choice if you only wanted to play this particular game or if you wanted to enter several Dream Number lines in a given draw. As with other lottery play slips, you could choose to enter the same line for up to eight consecutive draws.

Obtain Your Dream Number Ticket

When you had completed your play slip, you took it to the lottery retailer and paid the required amount. Each entry costs £1, so you needed to multiply this amount by the number of entries and the number of weeks you wanted to play for. The retailer would then give you your ticket.

Check Your Ticket

To win a prize in this game it was important that your numbers are drawn in the right order.

For example, if your Dream Number was 3768945 and the first number drawn is a 3 then you were already on the winning trail, but if the first number drawn was not a three then you lost automatically. The top prize was paid to anyone who matched all seven digits in order, and other prize tiers paid out for fewer matches, as follows:

Number of Digits Matched In Order Prize
All 7 digits £500,000
First 6 digits £50,000
First 5 digits £5,000
First 4 digits £500
First 3 digits £100
First 2 digits £10
First 1 digit £2

Make Your Dream Number Claim

If you had won a prize then you needed to claim it within 180 days of the Dream Number draw taking place. Small prizes could generally be claimed from your usual lottery retailer, and prizes of up to £10,000 could be claimed from a National Lottery Post Office. Prizes of £10,000 or more had to be claimed from a National Lottery Regional Centre and claims for £50,000 or £500,000 had to be made directly to Camelot by calling the telephone number shown on the back of the ticket.
