MegaPower Lottery
MegaPower Lottery fever is gripping the United States of America, and that’s because many of the states that participate in the Mega Millions or Powerball lottery games have started selling tickets for the alternative multi-state lottery game. In other words, many states that used to sell only Powerball tickets can now sell Mega Millions tickets as well, and vice versa. With both Mega Millions and Powerball having two weekly draws, this gives lottery fans the chance to win life changing jackpots four times a week.
Another thing that has helped MegaPower Lottery fever to sweep across the US is the fact that several states have joined or will be joining the Mega Millions multi-state lottery for the first time in 2010. Arizona, Colorado, Maine, Montana, Nebraska and Oregon will all be part of the Mega Millions family by the end of the year, and that means more players buying more tickets and creating even bigger jackpots.
The MegaPower lotterygames have been played in so many states for so long that players in participating states have often viewed them as unofficial national lotteries. Of course, players in non-MegaPower lottery participating states would quickly beg to differ on that matter, but the good new for those players is that an official national lottery in the USA might not be very far away if certain rumours prove to be reliable.
There are two main ideas being suggested about an American national lottery. One is that the existing Powerball and Mega Millions lottery games could be merged into what many people are already referring to as a single MegaPower Lottery game. Whether such a merged lottery would continue to give players life changing jackpots four times a week or whether the number of weekly draws would be reduced with bigger prizes being offered in each is something we can only speculate about at this stage.
US National Lottery
The other suggestion is that a brand new US national lottery might be created from scratch. We think that this is less likely, as the existing Powerball and Mega Millions infrastructure would make it much easier to combine the two, and we aren’t sure that the two multi-state lotteries would like to compete against an even larger national lottery. Of course, this too, is mere speculation, so we will have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks and months.
If and when an US national lottery is introduced, it will obviously be one of the biggest lottery games in the world. Until the launch of an even bigger World Lottery, that is…
