Lottery retailers fix Thunderball oversight

A couple of weeks ago an investigations showed that despite new Thunderball rules being implemented months ago, many lottery retailers in Scotland were still using the old selection slips, hindering their chances of winning. But within days of the investigation by the Daily Record Newspaper Group, lottery organisers had rushed to fix the error and remove old play slips from circulation.

A lottery spokesman showed concern that the lottery retailers had not followed the instructions given out and the need to change the play slips in line with the new draw. Now they have updates the software on the terminals to ensure that the machine will not accept one of the new Thunderball play slips, even if someone comes in with one.

It was said that just a small minority of shops that were affected by the rule but the Daily Record found many shops still offering the Thunderball play slips, which do not include the new numbers 35 to 39.

The new numbers were added when the National Lottery organisers revamped the Thunderball Lottery back in May 2010, and now, finally all retailers should be offering the new play slips, giving lottery players every chance to get a winning lottery ticket.
