Disappointing results on midweek Lotto

Last Updated: Tuesday 31st May 2011, 15:00

If you were buying Lotto tickets for the midweek UK Lotto draw, you might have been hoping for a jackpot of at least £2.5 million. However, in a disappointing week for the Lotto jackpot was worth just £1.6 million, due to low ticket sales and what’s more, three players matched all the winning numbers, making the jackpot prize just over half a million pound. It’s not winning any records, and if it is, it’s for lowest lottery jackpots ever!

In total, Wednesday’s prize fund was £7.8 million, with the £1.6 million jackpot at the top of that. This meant that with three winning players, each scooped just £543,813. We’re not sure if they’ll be pleased they won or disappointed. If they are disappointed, then so might the five and the bonus winners. Just £501,000 in the prize pool meant that each of the fourteen players scooped just £35,855 each, maybe just enough for a new car, certainly not enough to change anyone’s life.

It may be just that players are saving themselves for tonight’s Euromillions draw. There’s £39 million up for grabs this evening, after two weeks without a winning player. No jackpot winners mean a double rollover, and ticket sales may just be high. It may be that this midweek jackpot just wasn’t luring lottery players, and tonight’s jackpot will be another story.

If you are waiting for the Easter lottery draws, then the Euromillions plays as usual tonight, with it’s £39 million rollover jackpot, and then tomorrow evening, it’s the turn of the UK Lotto, and that jackpot, hopefully, will reach around £4.5 million!
