EuroMillions Syndicate Comes Forward to Claim £1 Million Win

Last Updated: Wednesday 14th May 2014, 13:27

A lucky EuroMillions syndicate has come forward this week to claim their £1 million win from last Friday’s draw.

The syndicate consists of three colleagues from a sailing holiday firm in Portsmouth who have been playing EuroMillions every Tuesday and Friday for the past three years. As luck would have it, last Friday the group decided to buy an extra two EuroMillions tickets with winnings from a previous draw.

While none of their tickets matched any of the main numbers drawn, one matched the Millionaire raffle code BXP474879 which meant they won the £1 million prize. However, the lucky trio spent the weekend unaware of the win as the syndicate leader only checked the tickets on Monday morning.

Speaking about the win, syndicate leader Terry Hunt, 41, said “You can imagine the commotion in the office and it was so nice that everyone was genuinely delighted for us. After all the commotion I called my fiancée, Adele, to tell her my news. Apparently I had turned white and was shaking as I made the call.”

After finding out they were the winners, syndicate member, Andy Wallace said, “We waited the longest seven minutes of our lives for the lottery prize validation line to open at 9am on Monday morning.”

The final member Alison Gruar, 35, slept well after learning about the £1 million win. “I got married in January and then bought a new house – we also have a young child so I have been really worried about money to the point that I have been losing sleep,” said Gruar. “This win is a game-changer for me.”

National-Lottery.com would like to congratulate this lucky syndicate and wish them all the best for the future.
