Last Updated: Tuesday 22nd June 2010, 13:56

Scratchcard We all hope for a little luck when buying those National Lottery scratchcards and for one lucky scratcher that luck was with him as he wins £40,000 on a lotto scratchcard. The gentleman from Carlisle bought the ticket with his weekly shopping and now won’t have to worry about his shopping bill for a while after netting £40,000.

The unnamed shopper popped into the Tesco store in Carlisle for some late night shopping at the beginning of the month and thought he would buy a lottery scratchcard with his last £2 while there. He purchased the £2 Buried Treasure scratchcard and won £40,000, no digging required.

Store Manager, Vince Lydon said the lucky gentleman had called into his Tesco store in Carlisle for some late night shopping at around 10pm, after paying for his shopping he used his last £2 to buy the lotto scratchcard and found himself £40,000 richer, it must have been the surprise of his life, albeit a pleasant one.

It’s the biggest win ever scooped at that particular store and the lucky gentleman beat odds of over £3.4 million on the game.

There are many lotto scratchcards that offer prizes in the tens of thousands and they are well worth checking out for your chance to scoop a big surprise win. It must be a fantastic feeling to go into a supermarket for some shopping and come back out £40,000 richer!

We would like to congratulate the unnamed winner who no doubt will now be choosing Tesco as his favourite supermarket.
