As Hilary Carter treated herself to her weekly cut and blow dry at the local hairdressers she could never have imagined she would be leaving the salon a lucky lotto winner. But that’s exactly what happened as her hairdresser called out the winning lotto numbers and Mrs Carter realised she had matched five main balls and the bonus ball.
As she was having her cut and blow dry her hairdresser called out the lottery results after nipping out on an errand. Hilary knew the numbers off by heart as she has been using them since the lottery started in 1994. She misheard the bonus ball, originally thinking she had matched five main numbers and was ecstatic at the thought of a £2,000 win.
However her hairdresser mentioned the bonus ball was 33 and said it was a shame it wasn’t on her lottery ticket. It was then that Mrs Carter realised she had matched five balls and the bonus ball to scoop £118,406 on the lotto.
Mrs Carter was overwhelmed and cried all the way through her haircut. The lucky lady lives in sheltered accommodation and although she isn’t yet sure how she’ll spend her winnings she is insistent that she will continue to spend time with her family and her close group of friends at the sheltered housing.
Although Hilary has no great plans for foreign holidays she has said that she may use her winnings to make a dream come true and watch the welsh rugby team play against their rivals France in Paris.
