Britons become Biggest UK Lottery winners

Last Updated: Thursday 7th July 2011, 16:01

Euromillions Two Britons have become the UK’s biggest lottery winners after sharing last night’s Euromillions Lottery jackpot. The jackpot had rolled over a staggering five times to reach £91 million and the two winning tickets were both sold in the UK. If the tickets do not belong to a syndicate then it will be the biggest UK lottery jackpot won by a single player, twice over.

It far tops the previous biggest UK lottery win, also won on the Euromillions which was Scottish postal worker Angela Kelly back in 2007. Single mother Miss Kelly scooped £37 million on the Euromillions back in 2007 but these wins of £45.5 million each far exceed that win.

Ticket sales were understandably high for the draw as players from all nine participating European countries bought tickets for the draw. It wasn’t quite as high as the £110 million won by a Spaniard in May this year but it was certainly the biggest jackpot won for a while now.

The fact that two UK players held the lucky lottery tickets that won the draw is a great start to the Millionaire Raffle. This is just the start of UK millionaires every week as the Millionaire Raffle begins next week. Ticket prices for the Euromillions Lottery will rise to £2 from today and every week a raffle will be drawn and one lucky UK Euromillions player will become an instant millionaire each week.

Congratulations to the two lucky lottery winners in last night’s Euromillions lottery draw, we will bring you more details of the winners as they are released this week.
