MedLotto; Mediterranean Lotto

A proposal has been put forward this week by one of the largest lottery firms in the world to create MedLotto, a Mediterranean Lotto to link all Mediterranean countries. The proposal from Intralot, a Greek lottery firm who provide the world second largest lottery systems is to create a joint venture which could help boost ties in the region.
The news has been announced by Reuters news agency this week and if put into place would see Intralot, who run betting games in more than a dozen countries worldwide put into place the MedLotto, Mediterranean Lottery pulling together all the Mediterranean countries in one big lottery.
Med lotto would be modelled around the Europe-wide Euromillions Lottery which plays in nine different European countries which plays once weekly and since its launch in 2004 has become one of the biggest lotteries in the world.
Intralot believe that the Mediterranean lottery could bolster ties in several countries and at a time of economic instability, create jobs and money in regions that are suffering. The lottery provider believes that the downturn has created the perfect opportunity for such a lottery and is keen to take advantage of the situation.
Although there is the Euromillions Lottery plus many local lotteries including the National Lottery in the UK, case point in America where there are many local and multi-state lotteries prove that there is certainly room for another European Lottery and it will be interesting to see just what comes of this latest bit of lottery news.
