Millionaires gather to celebrate Lotto

Last Updated: Thursday 7th July 2011, 16:04

National Lottery All over the country for the last couple of weeks lotto millionaires have been coming together for events organised to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the National Lottery. Last weekend a group of winners, including syndicate members and scratchcard winners gathered together on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border to celebrate their good fortune and 15 years of the UK Lotto.

Many UK Lotto winners from the regions came together to toast the 15th anniversary of the Lottery and celebrate the difference it made to their lives. The event was held at Weston Park near Shifnal and brought together many lottery winners from the local regions.

Guests at the shindig included the thirty-three strong syndicate from Palethorpe’s Pie Factory in Market Drayton who scooped £6 million in 2006 and Rhys Davies of Clun who will be spending the winter in South Africa cheering on the England Cricket team after winning £100,000 on a UK Lottery scratchcard.

The biggest winners at the event were Louise and Keith Gough of Bridgnorth who scooped over £9 million in 2006 but there were many winners at the event and no doubt the champagne was flowing.

A UK Lotto spokesman said in a speech at the event that Shropshire is the only county in Britain never to have unclaimed prizes, in all parts of the UK prizes remain unclaimed but not in Shropshire which shows that people from the county are either very careful about where they keep their lottery tickets or they all buy lotto tickets online for security and peace of mind.
