Lottery grant for Welsh castle

A lottery bid for a Welsh castle worth £4.5 million is being finalised right now allowing Cardigan Castle to be turned into a heritage centre and Welsh language school. The money, paid to the Cadwgan Building Preservation trust via a lottery grant for good causes will allow the castle to be transformed, yet kept the same, restoring many of the castle’s original features and heritage.
Cardigan Castle is said to be the home of the National Eisteddfod in 1176 so much needed money from the sale of lottery tickets will allow it to be preserved as history for future generations.
The bid will be looked at by the National Lottery Heritage fund at the end of August but the Cadwgan Building Preservation trust are sure the money is in the bag for their grand plans for the castle, especially as they are to match the proposed £4.5 million, penny for penny.
The organisation has every reason to be confident, the Prince of Wales has taken a personal interest in the project and is receiving monthly reports on the progress. Hopefully we’ll have more lottery news about this and other projects throughout the month.
The next National Lottery draw will be held on Wednesday evening and in that draw there is an estimated £2.4 million up for grabs.
