Last Updated: Thursday 24th September 2020, 14:07

Many features and public areas around the UK have heard this week whether or not they are receive good causes cash from the Lottery Heritage Fund in the New Year. Many charities and good causes are today celebrating after receiving thousands in lottery grants. From Stourbridge to Swansea, lottery money will be making the difference to our museums, open spaces, parks and memorials, giving them much needed time, care and cash.

Stourbridge Park in the West Midlands is to receive a massive £116,100 to develop the green space and make it more accessible for local people, while Cwmdonkin Park, reported on these pages here a few months ago will receive the £820,000 it applied for. Duthie Park in Aberdeen is getting a massive £2.5 million windfall from the National lottery to improve and restore the 44-acre park, one of the biggest lottery projects of 2011.

These are just a few of the grants and just a few of the ways that National Lottery and Euromillions players are helping to improve their local areas from the sale of lottery tickets in the UK. For every single lottery ticket you purchase, more than a quarter goes to good causes, allowing projects such as these to benefit from cash.

There will be more National Lottery cash awards declared before the New Year, check back to the lottery news pages for all the details and feel-good stories of 2011!

In other lottery news, the next draw in the UK is on Wednesday evening and the estimated jackpot for that draw is £2.4 million!
