Doncaster venue receives Lotto cash

Last Updated: Thursday 24th September 2020, 14:08

A new performance venue in Doncaster is to receive £2 million of lottery cash towards its £22.5 million building costs. The money, from the National Lottery fund for good causes, is being awarded to the Doncaster project by the Arts Council England and construction of the building is to begin in the spring of 2011. Good causes stories are always heart warming and this project, to be built in the heart of the new cultural centre will be valuable to local people for years to come.

Of course plans for the lottery project are still in the planning stage right now, but once Doncaster has received it’s lottery grant from the Arts Council, work will begin in early 2011. The centre is expected to be complete within two years and will open its doors in 2013.

The lottery-funded venue will be situated in the new public square in Doncaster, part of the new civic and cultural quarter of the city. The stadium will house a 600-seat auditorium, dance and drama studios, meeting rooms and a bar and café area.

Of course this £2 million of lottery funding will make a huge difference, and it’s just one of the ways that money from the sale of lottery tickets is helping charities and projects around the UK. As we go into 2011 it looks as though the National Lottery intend on giving even more to good causes and we look forward to the lottery news stories coming from these charities and projects.

The next National Lottery draw is tomorrow evening and the estimated jackpot is £2.4 million!
