Fears of Spanish Euromillions winner

Last Updated: Thursday 7th July 2011, 15:48

Euromillions Last week we saw one of the biggest ever Euromillions Lottery jackpot at £112 million. Shared by two lucky players we couldn’t wait to tell you about the British couple who became the UK’s biggest ever lottery winners at £56.5 million but the other winning ticket is from Spain and it’s said that the lottery winners are scared to come forward and identify themselves.

It’s thought that the second Euromillions winner lives in the Mediterranean town of Mojacar, near Almeria where Brits outnumber Spaniards leading to the belief that the winner is an ex-pat from the UK.

Talk in the town is that the winner isn’t coming forward for fear of violent gangs and that even if and when they do step forward they’ll want anonymity to avoid detection.

The £56.5 million win is accruing £142,000 a day in interest but as Spain has a history of kidnap for ransom the winner will fear they are going to be a target and that might explain why they are being cautious about coming forward.

The winners have three months to claim their winning lotto ticket, although we may never know when they do if you demand anonymity. The other ticket winners Nigel Page and his partner Justine Laycock didn’t have any such worries and the story of their win has dominated the UK news all week.

Tomorrow’s Euromillions draw is worth an estimated £13 million and you can buy lotto tickets online now. Good luck, you could be our next big UK Lotto winner.
