Lottery fund to improve town centres

More than £14 million has been earmarked by the Heritage Lottery Fund to improve town centres around the UK. The money will be used to regenerate town centres across the UK which are rundown or suffering from neglect according to a statement from the Heritage Lottery fund released this week.
Many areas around the UK have been marked for support including Whitechapel Market in London, this area and market date back to the 17th century and will be receiving over £1.3 million in lottery cash to restore traditional shop fronts.
In all, eleven town centres around the UK will be getting a share of the lottery cash for good causes and the work will include restoring traditional shop fronts, buildings and key architectural features. Community events will be encouraged, giving people back pride in these areas.
The Heritage Lottery fund has invested £200 million into regenerating towns since 1998 and this is just one of the ways that money from your lottery tickets goes to make the UK a better place for everyone to live in.
The total areas that have been earmarked for funding in this £14 millin scheme include Middleton in Greater Manchester, Bedford, Wellingborough in Northamptonshire, Stockton in Cleveland, Roskear and Tuckingmill in Cornwall, Camborne and Lower Kirkgate in Leeds.
This is just one of the ways that money from your lottery tickets goes to help good causes all around the UK and hopefully this initiative will mean that people around the UK can once again take pride in their town centres and use them both practically and culturally with pleasure.
