National Lottery Olympic fund announced

At the end of last week, the National Lottery announced that the Olympic fund, from National Lottery good causes has reached £550 million and is right on track for the £750 million. Lottery players, in the UK through lottery ticket sales, have raised this staggering amount of cash and the sales of dedicated Olympic scratchcards and instant wins have also helped the total along.
Dianne Thompson, group Chief Executive of the lottery operator made the announcement at the end of last week, also adding that the Olympic 2012 fund is right on track for its £750 million target.
The money, from the National Lottery good causes fund, is part of the National Lottery’s £2.2 billion contribution to the 2010 Olympic games, also helped by a public funding package. Mrs Thompson thanked lottery players and retailers for the achievement by the lottery and said she believed the remaining £200 million should be raised without a problem.
This means that designated lottery games will continue for a while now, including scratchcards and online instant wins, a dedicated Olympic Dream number and new games to be launched in January. It means that things remain very exciting for lottery players, with lots of new games to look forward to, and cash is raised for the Olympic Fund at the same time.
