Leeds Couple Win Nearly £2 Million on the UK Lotto

Last Updated: Tuesday 21st February 2012, 12:52

It is never compulsory to come forward and claim your lottery winnings, however now a Leeds couple has released their identity after they won nearly £2 million on the UK Lotto in Saturday night’s draw. The couple has been named as Steve and Gwen Poole from Leeds. They (along with another winning ticket) matched the six numbers drawn out to share the UK Lotto jackpot which came out as £3,927,854. This means they take home just under £2m, which they are delighted with.

The couple sent out their son Tom to buy their ticket on Saturday however didn’t even know they had won until the following day. On Sunday night Tom sat them both down, put up the UK Lotto results and gave them the ticket. Steve Poole saw the amount under the numbers and was left feeling numb.

Both are planning to go part-time after this great win - Steve is a driving instructor and Gwen a dental nurse. However Steve has decided to give up his second job of a recovery vehicle controller in which he started to do when the couple were struggling financially. They have a big family which includes four sons and three grandchildren so they are going to splash out and treat everyone to a superb Christmas.

The winning UK Lotto ticket was bought in Yeadon, Leeds from Morrisons supermarket and the UK Lotto results from that particular draw were 6, 12, 13, 28, 33 and 38. The couple has been using this particular set of numbers for nearly five years now and they previously won a smaller lottery prize of £1,900.
