Lottery winner won’t be splashing out

Last Updated: Sunday 17th July 2011, 19:15

Lottery DreamsA great-grandmother who has won almost £1.5 million on the UK Lotto says she won’t be splashing out after the win, as she has everything she needs. Helen Walker and her husband of 57 years Stanley have just won £1,466,667 on a UK Lotto jackpot, but they say they don’t need all that money at their age and will be sharing their lottery windfall with their large family.

The couple have been playing the National Lottery since its launch in 1994 and spend £12 each week on lottery tickets. They say they have had a few small wins in the past, and a £450 windfall, but now, after playing the same lottery numbers for years, they are millionaires!

Helen Walker had stayed up later than her husband one evening, and so decided to check their numbers on the Teletext service. When she saw they had matched six numbers in the Lotto draw, she couldn’t possibly keep it to herself and hurried to wake her husband. The couple stayed up until the early hours toasting their win, and since then have been deciding on ways to give their family a helping hand, using the jackpot win to do so.

The couple don’t intend on moving house, but say they have children and grandchildren they would like to help out using the win. The couple have two children, seven grandchildren and another four great-grandchildren, so they are certainly not short of family to spoil.

If you haven’t yet checked the lottery numbers from last night’s UK Lotto draw then check the results now, you might be the latest Lotto millionaire!
