Lotto jackpot winner missed out

Last Updated: Thursday 24th September 2020, 14:13

A Lotto jackpot winner missed out this week on a prize worth almost £1 million after not claiming before the deadline. Over the last couple of months we have put out appeals for the UK Lotto winner to come forward, but now the prize and any interest it has accrued will be sent to the fund for good causes as the winner has not come forward to claim the prize before the deadline.

Lottery winners have 180 days to claim lottery prizes in the UK, and if not claimed in that time they go into the fund for good causes. At any given time there can be as much as £8 million worth of unclaimed lottery prizes, leading us to put out constant reminders for winners.

However, it is quite unusual for a jackpot to go unclaimed, and is quite a coup for good causes. The prize was worth just short of £1 million, the lottery tickets, that was sold in Oxfordshire; let’s hope the winner doesn’t find it now!

Tonight, there’s a £6.9 million UK Lotto rollover up for grabs, so take heed from this story of a lost lottery prize and make sure you check your results promptly after the draw. You can check our lottery results section, or download our free iPhone app for all the Lotto results straight to your phone. Alternatively, you can buy lottery tickets for the UK Lotto rollover easily online in just a few clicks and the National Lottery will send you an email if you win a prize, ensuring you never have to worry about losing another lottery ticket!
