Managing Millions

Last Updated: Thursday 22nd November 2018, 14:41

An assistant manager for a Costcutter store in Aberdeen will be managing millions thanks to winning a massive £4,018,314 share of the £8,036,628 jackpot in the Lotto draw of Wednesday 6 June. Neil Murray, who is 27, bought his winning Lucky Dip ticket from the very same shop that he helps to manage, giving a whole meaning to the term "convenience store"!

"I usually buy Lucky Dips at the shop as it's obviously so convenient," Neil said. "During my break at lunchtime on Thursday I got a print out of the winning numbers from the night before to check my numbers. When I checked off all six numbers I just couldn't believe I'd matched them all so I asked my boss to double check. When he said I did have all six I was in shock and to be honest I still am. I can't describe the feeling of knowing the money is in the bank."

Now that he's over four million pounds richer, Neil and his wife Jennifer are thinking seriously about making some big changes to their lives. Neil is thinking about going back to university to finish a law degree and Jennifer wants to use some of the money to fund her enthusiasm for horses. Jennifer works at her local primary school as a special needs teacher, and has no intention to change this.

"Something we will definitely be doing is moving to a bigger house where we can keep horses, which Jennifer has always talked about since we first met," Neil said.

"We'd also like to splash out on a new car and a trip to somewhere like New York or Sydney, places we have always dreamed of visiting. We have also been talking about starting a family soon, so the win coming now is brilliant".
