Winner's Wedding Gift

Last Updated: Friday 28th February 2014, 17:02

A woman from Eastbourne in East Sussex will be helping a relative to make her wedding day as special as possible after winning a share of the Lotto jackpot worth a staggering £2,438,155 on Saturday 21 July.

Diane Robson is 53 years of age and works on a part-time basis for a local bridal shop, so she knows a fair amount weddings. Her niece, Louise Pain, had already planned to get married at Eastbourne's Grand Hotel at the end of August, but now Diane says that the win will help to make the day even grander.

"Our family have all been really looking forward to Louise's wedding," Diane said. "The win will make the big day even more special."

Diane bought her winning ticket, using Lucky Dip numbers, from a local newsagent in Eastbourne. She discovered that she had won a share of the rollover jackpot the morning after the draw, when turning to Teletext to check her numbers.

"The win hasn't sunk in yet - I'm still in total shock!" Diane said. "I was at home with my Jack Russell, Shandy, when I checked my numbers on Teletext. I called my sister immediately and asked her to triple-check the numbers because I really didn't believe what I was seeing. As soon as we realised that I had won, my sister and her husband came round straight away and made sure to pick up some champagne on the way!"

As well as helping to make Louise's wedding day extra special, Diane intends to treat her other nephews and nieces. She also has her mind set on splashing out on a brand new Peugeot Cabriolet for herself.

"I drive a Peugeot 206 at the moment but I've always wanted a Cabriolet. Whenever I see one I always joke 'there's my car!' And now it really will be."
