Last Updated: Tuesday 31st May 2011, 15:00

Lottery Tickets CashKids across the North of England should be celebrating today, as a lottery grant are to ensure a boost for children’s groups in the Northumberland area. The cash is designed to promote several green projects in the area, with local children getting involved to make the place they are to grow up in, nice for future generations. The children have come up with many ideas and now thanks to thousands in lottery cash, those ideas are going to come to life!

Bedlington Nursery in the Northumberland area has been granted £10,000 from the National Lottery, this may not seem very much, considering what Lotto jackpots are, but it’s these small grants, paid out every day that make such a difference to the lives of many. This grant will be used to fund a pond and decking, buy all the kids wellies and allow them to get closer to nature every year once the project is completed.

Three schools in the area are taking part in the project, and one completed the nature reserve area will be open to all children of the town, not just the ones at the nursery. The pond and the wildlife it will attract will allow children to be closer to nature in this ex-mining town and should make a huge difference to generations to come.

It’s these small lottery grants that make such a difference to small communities around the UK, and as 27p in every £1 goes to good causes, you know that every time you buy lottery tickets, you’re making a difference too!
