Unclaimed £3.6 million UK Lotto Prize Expired Today

A UK Lotto prize worth £3,634,865 has expired today, after no winner came forward to claim the jackpot after six months of searching. The draw, which took place on Saturday 12th May 2012 saw just one winner match all six numbers to lay claim to that multi million pound jackpot, but despite repeated calls for the winner to come forward, the prize was not claimed. All we know is that the winner came from the South Lanarkshire area, and that the ticket was purchased in a shop, not online. But why do prize winners not come forward?
Usually, the main reason for prizes going unclaimed is simply through players either not checking their tickets, or losing their tickets before getting the chance to check them. This is when buying your lottery tickets online can be the best way to play the UK Lotto, as you will be automatically informed if you have a win, usually by an email commenting that your need to “check your online account”. Remember however, no lottery will ever tell you how much you have won, nor ask for money to release your funds.
This prize fund will now be donated to the National Lottery Good Causes fund. There is another big unclaimed prize deadline also looming, this time for a whopping £63.8 million, which was won on the EuroMillions back on 8th June 2012. This was half of the actual jackpot that night – the other half of which has been claimed – and was purchased by a UK player in the Hitchin / Stevenage area.
