£6.3 million UK Lotto Winners Named

Last Updated: Thursday 5th December 2013, 13:19

The winners of the UK Lotto jackpot of £6,299,421 on Saturday 23rd February 2013 have come forward and gone public with their win in a press conference today. Robin and Christine Kiddie, both 60 and married with four children from Ludlow in Shropshire, are the first big lottery winners from the town since Adam Griffiths won the £250,000 Thunderball in 2006. For more details regarding the couple, including how they picked those all-important winning numbers, read on!

Robin bought the lottery ticket on his payday from the Tesco in Kidderminster, and chose the numbers based on a combination of family birthdates and old pools numbers. As the winning numbers contained three consecutive high numbers – 30, 31 and 32 – this combination was clearly a good choice, as just choosing birthdates alone would have meant he would not have picked the number 32.

The couple did not know they were the winners until they checked their tickets on Monday, when they were stunned by the news. They broke the news to their grown up children via text message, which simply read “Good news, I have just won £6.3 million on the lottery”. The couple plan on sharing their winnings with their four children and five grandchildren, and Christine has said she is delighted that the win will see her family be financially secure for their entire lives.

Robin, a commercial and export sales manager, plans to retire at the end of March, although Christine, a nurse at Ludlow Hospital, has said she has not yet made a decision – and is waiting for the news to sink in! However, they have agreed on their first purchases – a brand new Mercedes and a trip to their beloved Rome, their favourite city.

We at National-Lottery.com wish them the very best of luck in the future, and hope they enjoy their family winnings.
