€10.6 million Irish Lottery Jackpot Won!

Last Updated: Monday 26th January 2015, 10:05

The Irish Lottery jackpot was finally landed last night after over six weeks of rollovers. The jackpot, which was last won on 15th December 2012, had rolled over twelve times to generate the biggest Irish Lottery jackpot in over ten months and the top prize was scooped last night by one incredibly lucky ticket holder. This immense jackpot had led to a flurry of excitement amongst players in Ireland, with an average of 1,000 tickets sold every minute in the lead up to last night’s draw!

Those lucky numbers were 3, 8, 11, 23, 27, 33 and the bonus ball was 36, and the winning player matched all six to win the jackpot. There were also another five ticket holders to match five numbers and the bonus ball to win the set second tier prize of €25,000, and a massive 126 players won the match five prize, which equated to €740.00 on this draw. The full results can be seen on the Irish Lottery Results page.

All that is currently known about the winning ticket holder is that the ticket was purchased in the South of Ireland, but whether it was a single player or a syndicate is not yet clear. On average, 70% of Irish Lottery jackpot winners opt to keep their privacy and not go public with their win, so whether the winner comes forward will remain to be seen.

Of course, it wasn’t just the Irish Lottery which was drawn last night. The UK Lotto also saw its midweek draw, but unfortunately the luck of the Irish was not with the UK players, as there was no player to scoop the jackpot of €2.3 million. This means there will be a rollover jackpot on the UK Lotto of an estimated £6,400,000 for the draw on Saturday 2nd February 2013 so players, don’t forget to buy your tickets!
