One of Three UK Lotto Jackpot Winners Claims Prize

Last Updated: Thursday 5th December 2013, 13:19

One of the three UK Lotto jackpot winners from last Wednesday has come forward to claim his prize, worth just over £2 million. Iain McMillian, 48, from Renfrewshire in Scotland is a former leader of the Renfrewshire Council Labour group and is currently a local councillor in the district.

Despite his windfall, Iain has confirmed that he will not be giving up his political interests and will serve the remainder of his five year term. “I am not a materialistic person,” Iain told Scottish media. “Although it’s a life changing sum of money I will still carry on as a councillor. I was elected to represent the Johnstone South, Elderslie and Howwood ward for a five-year term and I’ve only done a year and a half, so I’ve no plans to walk away from politics.”

Despite Iain’s commitment to his local council, he has already given up his job as a benefits officer to spend time enjoying the new lifestyle his windfall will bring. Iain, who is married to Donna and has two children and four grandchildren, bought his ticket from the local Morrison’s in Johnstone town centre and found out he had won after checking his tickets on Thursday night.

Although he has no plans to move house or buy new cars yet, he said the best thing about winning was being able to share the cash with his family.

Congratulations to Iain from National-Lottery.com. Meanwhile, Saturday’s UK Lotto draw made two more millionaires, as the jackpot of £3,777,260 was shared between two lucky ticket holders. If you have not yet checked your ticket, the full results and prize breakdown from Saturday can be found on the UK Lotto Results page, so check your numbers now to see if you are one of the player’s following in Iain’s winning footsteps!
