Play Makes It Possible – National Lottery Launches New Campaign

Last Updated: Wednesday 13th August 2014, 16:11

The National Lottery is set to launch a new campaign this weekend which aims to link the benefits of winning big with the life changing community projects supported by the lottery’s Good Causes Fund. The campaign’s slogan, ‘Play Makes it Possible’, highlights just some of the amazing things made possible by playing the National Lottery, both for individuals and communities.

The campaign is scheduled to go live on Sunday 6th July and will include TV, print, outdoor and digital activity as well as retailer participation in more than 37,000 stores across the UK. The TV advertisement is set to a poem which evokes strong images of lottery wins: "A brand new home / A new set of wheels / Spectacular pool / How does it feel?"

However, the poem deliberately employs language with dual connotations and the images which run alongside the narrative are actually of charitable schemes funded by the National Lottery. These include a new Scout hut, specially adapted wheelchairs for disabled basketball players and swimmers diving into a pool at the London Aquatic Centre.

As well as reiterating the personal and public benefits of playing the lottery, ‘Play Makes it Possible’ has been launched in attempt to boost player participation. The National Lottery’s Marketing and Consumer Director Sally Cowdry said; “Knowing about National Lottery projects promotes positivity and has a direct impact on players’ participation in our games, so our new campaign looks to irrevocably bring the two together."

In the 20 years since the National Lottery first launched, more than £31 billion has been donated to over 420,000 worthy projects across the UK and approximately £50 billion worth of prizes have been given out to lucky players. If you’d like to get involved with the National Lottery’s great games, tickets for Lotto, Thunderball and EuroMillions can all be purchased online via the Lottery Tickets tab.
