Last Updated: Wednesday 13th August 2014, 16:11

uk lottoA rock musician from St Helens is celebrating this week after picking up over £1 million in the UK Lotto. 50-year-old James Jennion won £1,045,504 after matching all six main numbers drawn in Saturday’s game.

The winning numbers from Saturday’s draw were 8, 12, 28, 30, 43 and 49 with the Bonus Ball 42. Along with Jennion, four other UK ticket holders also matched all six main numbers to share the £5.2 million top tier prize.

Jennion, who plays the drums for local rock band Poisoned Electrick Head, plays the UK Lotto online every week and found out about his jackpot win on Sunday evening after receiving an email notification from the National Lottery advising him to check his account. Jennion was in complete shock when he logged into his account to check his winnings and discovered he had won over £1 million. He asked his partner Andrea to double check the results to make sure he wasn’t seeing things!

Eager to celebrate his win, Jennion immediately called his parents and they all toasted his new fortune with a few drinks. Jennion has resigned from his day job as a roofer and plans to buy a top of the range drum kit so that he can indulge his passion for music. Other items on his to-buy list include a new house and a car.

There is a £4.2 million jackpot to play for in tomorrow night’s UK Lotto, so make sure you participate in the game if you want the chance to follow in Jennion’s footsteps! You can purchase your UK Lotto tickets online here or from authorised retailers.
