Great-Granddad from Cornwall Collects £13.5 Million Lotto Winnings

Last Updated: Wednesday 3rd June 2015, 09:58

A great-granddad from Truro in Cornwall has been presented with a cheque for £13.5 million after matching all six main numbers in the quadruple rollover Lotto draw on Wednesday 27th May. During the presentation at the Alverton hotel in the town, Peter Congdon, 67, insisted that the huge windfall would not change his plans for a family holiday to Butlin’s in Minehead. “We’ve been going to Butlin’s for 40 years,” Peter stated to the national press, “so this year won’t be any different.”

Peter’s successful Lotto line was 12, 27, 28, 39, 41 and 48, which he chose by using birthdays and other lucky numbers. He had also struck it lucky with an incredible three winning scratchcards in the days preceding his eight-figure haul.

A new car, most likely a Land Rover, is top of the shopping list for the city councillor, who has also pledged to buy his three children new vehicles too. Widower Peter, who is well known in the community for his charity fundraising, also has ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Peter claimed that he had to take his ticket to his daughter’s house to double-check that he had hit the top prize, after initially thinking that he had won just £25 for matching three balls. Remember to use the handy Lotto Checker so you can instantly work out whether your ticket is a winner as soon as the results are updated on National-Lottery.com on a Wednesday or Saturday evening.

Tonight’s Lotto jackpot is estimated to be worth £2.1 million, which would mean you wouldn’t have to worry about how you were going to pay for a summer holiday this year, whether you’d prefer Butlin’s or the Bahamas. For your chance to wake up tomorrow as a newly-minted millionaire, you need to buy Lotto tickets online through the Buy Tickets page or in person at an authorised retailer. Good luck!
