Somerset Grandmother Pockets Lotto Jackpot

Last Updated: Friday 24th July 2015, 08:53

A lucky pensioner from Wedmore in Somerset says it will be fantastic to finally fulfil her dream of owning her own home after winning the Lotto jackpot on Wednesday 15th July. Mary Ellis, 67, was one of two players to scoop £433,377 after matching the six main numbers drawn, having played the same line that she had used twice a week ever since Lotto started in 1994.

Mary kept her ticket in her late husband’s coat pocket until the massive win was confirmed, but has admitted that she is ‘still in a daze’. The retired care assistant is now looking forward to spending her money, saying in the Western Daily Press: “As well as treating my family, the first thing on my shopping list is a new car, followed by a new house - after renting for years, it would be great to finally own my own home.”

You can find the full prize breakdown from the day Mary won the jackpot in the Results section, as well as information about all the recent draws. The top prize has not been pocketed since the night of Mary’s success and a second consecutive rollover on Wednesday 22nd July has driven the estimated jackpot value to £8.2 million for Saturday’s draw.

Even if nobody manages to land the jackpot, Saturday’s Lotto will be something special as seven new millionaires are guaranteed. As well as giving away the usual 50 prizes of £20,000 in the Lotto Raffle, there will be an additional seven codes worth £1 million each. Match one of these unique codes and you will receive a stunning seven-figure windfall.

If you are able to net £1 million this weekend or possibly even the jackpot, you could follow Mary’s lead and start thinking about a new home. You might prefer to indulge in a series of exotic holidays or splash out on those extravagant purchases you’ve always dreamed about, but no matter what your dream, you have to buy a ticket to be in with a chance. Enter online or visit any authorised retailer, and then check back on National-Lottery.com after the draw to see the results. Best of luck!
