Widnes Teachers Claim £1 Million Lotto Win

As the deadline looms for three Lotto Millionaire Raffle prizes to be claimed, the mystery ticket holders have been given a timely reminder about how coming forward would change their lives by a syndicate of teachers who are celebrating a £1 million win. The 30 school workers from Widnes, made up of 26 women and four men, will receive £33,333 each and are now looking forward to splashing the cash in various different ways.
Headteacher Lesley Feakes has admitted that the announcement by syndicate leader Julie Connaughton last Friday that they might have won a fortune was originally greeted with a huge amount of suspicion due to the date. “Nobody believed a word. They all thought it was an April Fool,” Lesley explained in the Daily Mirror.
The teachers broke up for Easter later that day and enjoyed a big night out, before starting to think about how they might spend their newfound wealth. One syndicate member, Beth Murphy, has been able to set a date for her wedding, while Andy Carney, the youngest member of the group at 23, is keen to buy a house and take a holiday to Lanzarote after declaring himself ‘very pleased’ to have joined the school in January.
While these teachers can now make lots of exciting plans, it is only possible because they checked their tickets and claimed the prize they were entitled to. Three players are set to miss out on £1 million if they do not step forward by the end of the working day on Thursday, despite matching winning codes in the draw on 10th October 2015.
It was a special draw to mark the launch of the Lotto Millionaire Raffle and 25 prizes of £1 million were awarded.
