Tickets at the Ready as Hunt Begins for Missing Lotto Winner

Last Updated: Friday 15th January 2016, 10:11

As tomorrow night’s Lotto draw promises to create at least five millionaires, officials are determined to make sure that another big win does not go unclaimed and are going the extra mile to try and jog the memory of local players. The missing Lotto winner who matched all six main numbers on 12th September to scoop £4.6 million has yet to come forward, and the prize will expire in mid-March.

The winning ticket was bought in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, and a team will travel to the local underground station on Friday morning to greet commuters with ‘swathes of red carpet, a squad of butlers, delicate topiary and velvet swags’. A spokeswoman explained in the London Evening Standard: “The ‘Millionaire Commuter Experience’ will greet travellers at Barking station as the National Lottery searches for the elusive ticket holder of a Lotto £4.7 million unclaimed jackpot.”

Lotto players have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim any prizes before the money is donated to the Good Causes Fund, and one player from the Redditch area only has until Thursday 21st January to claim the £63,043 they are due for matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball on 25th July of last year.

The second ticket holder from last Saturday’s historic draw still has almost six months to step forward after the record-breaking jackpot of £66 million was split two ways. David and Carol Martin from Hawick were presented with their cheque for £33 million on Wednesday, but there has been no word from the other winner.

A spokesman has revealed that there could be ‘a million reasons’ why the jackpot winner has not yet claimed their prize, adding: “A lot of times, the winner will tell us they just didn't get around to checking the ticket, usually because of some event like moving house, going on holiday.” The details of the area in which the ticket was bought will be made public two weeks after the draw.

The Lotto jackpot rolled over in midweek, pushing the top prize up to £7.7 million for Saturday’s draw. There will also be five winning codes worth £1 million in the Lotto Millionaire Raffle rather than the usual one, making it a great opportunity to land a huge prize. There will also be the normal 20 prizes of £20,000 in the Lotto Raffle, so make sure to check all the Lotto Results after the draws have taken place. Tickets can be bought online or from authorised retailers in the UK. Best of luck!
