Could One Aberdeen Lotto Winner be About to Miss Out on £1 Million?

Last Updated: Tuesday 3rd July 2018, 11:25

The luck of a Lotto player from Aberdeen is rapidly running out. After failing to contact National Lottery officials, the mystery ticket holder now has less than 28 days left to claim a prize worth £1 million.

The ticket, which was purchased in The Granite City ahead of the draw on Saturday 8th April, correctly matched the winning Lotto Millionaire Raffle code GREY 3482 8937. With the claim deadline of Thursday 5th October quickly approaching, National Lottery officials have been urging players to rack their brains in an effort to locate the missing entry.

Hunt for the Missing Winner

The National Lottery’s senior winners’ advisor, Andy Carter, has also been pleading with Lotto players in the area to double-check their homes as the search for the seven-figure playslip gathers pace: “Time is fast running out for the winner of this prize, but we are still hopeful that someone will come forward at the very last minute to claim the money,” the ever-optimistic Carter told reporters.

Never one to give up on a missing ticket, Carter was keen to remind players about how such a sizeable sum could make someone’s wildest fantasies come true: “This life-changing prize could really help to make dreams become a reality for someone out there.”

What Happened on the Day of the Draw

The day of the draw, Saturday 8th April, was Grand National day, so the Lotto ticket could have been set aside during celebrations or commiserations as the action unfolded from Aintree. The mystery winner might have bought it thinking their luck must be due a turn after their horse ambled over the line, way down the pack. If you remember playing Lotto that day in the Aberdeen area, you need to start searching.

A jovial Carter also offered a number of suggestions as to where the elusive entry could be hiding: "Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa. Someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune."

Lotto Claims Period

Lotto players are reminded that they have 180 days from the date of the draw marked on their entry to claim any prize, whether that be a free Lucky Dip ticket for matching two main numbers or the jackpot prize. The same rules also apply for supplementary draw prizes, including Lotto Millionaire Raffle rewards. If you think that you could be about to miss out on a massive amount of cash, head to the Unclaimed Prizes page for more details on the game's biggest prizes still in need of a good home.

While the residents of Aberdeen frantically check every nook and cranny, the remainder of the UK will turn their collective attention towards this Saturday’s draw when an estimated jackpot of £16.9 million will be up for grabs. If you would like to win this colossal sum, simply select your numbers online or pick up a ticket from any authorised retailer. Good luck!
