EuroMillions Birthday
Last Updated: Monday 23rd November 2015, 16:49
EuroMillions is five years old on Friday 13 February, 2009, and National Lottery players all over the UK and the rest of Europe will be hoping to win a EuroMillions birthday jackpot to mark the occasion.
It seems like only yesterday that National Lottery players welcomed EuroMillions as the first multi-national lottery in the world, but that really was five years ago (on Friday 13 February, 2004, to be precise) and since then the game has gone from strength to strength.
A minimum jackpot level of €15 million and a built-in lottery rollover feature have helped to create some incredible jackpots. Angela Kelly will always remember the £35.4 million that she won in August 2007, and Delores McNamara in Ireland will never forget her record-breaking win of €115 million in July 2005. Even when jackpots have been shared, the prizes received have been impressive – just ask the three winners who shared the biggest ever EuroMillions jackpot of €185 million in February 2006!
EuroMillions birthdays are often accompanied by a Guaranteed Superdraw, but so far no such thing has been announced for the fifth birthday. We have heard rumours that there may be a superdraw in March 2009, but whether that rumour is reliable or not remains to be seen – watch this space!
In the meantime, we offer our congratulations to the EuroMillions lottery and we look forward to playing for many years to come. If you fancy your chances of seeing if Friday 13th is lucky for you, you can buy lottery tickets online right now.
