77-year-old EuroMillions winner John Kingsman says he has no intentions of giving up work, despite landing over £150,000 in the draw. The fruit and veg salesman from Bognor Regis says he will continue to get up at four in the morning to answer the phones and make the tea at his workplace.
John, who is a well-known figure in his hometown, could not believe his luck when he woke up on Sunday 22nd June and checked his numbers. Speaking to the National Lottery, he said, “I usually watch all lottery draws live but the football meant the EuroMillions draw was on a bit late for me and I like to get up early. I couldn’t believe it when I saw I had the five main numbers and one of the Lucky Star numbers and I was shaking from head-to-toe. I had to get my neighbour to check it with me to make sure I’d got it right.
“I then went down to Sainsbury’s as soon as it opened, which I usually do on a Sunday morning for my shopping. I showed the ticket to the chap behind the counter and he said he couldn’t pay it out to me as it was over £500!”
John, who has no immediate family, intends to use his new-found wealth to treat some of his closest friends. The keen golf fan told The National Lottery, “If I didn’t go into work, no-one else would make the tea. I would be bored if I was just in my flat every day, though now that I’ve won this money I hope to spend more time back on the golf course.”
There is a jackpot of £47 million (€60 million) up for grabs in tonight’s EuroMillions draw. For your chance to win the jackpot, or one of the millions of other prizes available, don’t forget to buy your tickets here or from an authorised retailer.
