UK Celebrates a Winning Weekend

Last Updated: Wednesday 14th May 2014, 13:27

UK Celebrates a Winning WeekendLottery players in the UK had plenty to celebrate at the weekend, but the biggest success of all was achieved on Friday night, when a single British ticket landed the multi-rollover EuroMillions jackpot. The EuroMillions results on Friday 14 March were 06, 24, 25, 27 and 30, with the numbers 05 and 09 selected as the Lucky Stars. We don’t know how the winner came up with those numbers to land the jackpot, but we do know that he or she won the colossal sum of £107,932,603, making this the fourth biggest UK lottery win of all time.

It has been reported that the winner has already lodged their claim with the lottery organisers in the UK, so it shouldn’t be long before the nine-figure fortune is paid out. Whether or not the winning player will choose to tell the world about their success or try to keep their identity private is not yet known.

There were seven tickets that were just one Lucky Star short of sharing the jackpot, and the owners of those tickets will now have to console themselves with a prize of £251,609 each. Another 17 tickets won £34,534 each by matching five main numbers only, and 126 tickets matched four main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win £2,329 each. Over 4.4 million consolation prizes were won in total, and the Millionaire Raffle number GZC455768 was worth £1 million to the player with the winning ticket.

In the Lotto game on Saturday 15 March, four tickets shared a jackpot worth £6,235,392, which means that the lucky quartet of players can now look forward to getting their hands on £1,558,848 each. The Lotto results were 14, 19, 22, 25, 38 and 48, and the Bonus Ball was 08. A second tier prize of £34,686 was landed by each of 11 tickets that matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball, and 258 tickets picked up a useful £1,255 each by matching five main numbers only. More than 299,000 tickets won smaller prizes of £113 or £25 each after matching four or three main numbers, and success in the Lotto Raffle game gave each of 100 players a very nice prize of £20,000.

The main numbers in the Health Lottery game on Saturday were 03, 17, 30, 32 and 33, and the number 42 was drawn as the Bonus Ball. There were more than 75,000 prize winners in total, and the biggest was the owner of the single ticket that matched all five main numbers to win £100,000. In addition to the usual prizes, ten Hot Ticket prizes of up to £10,000 each were won, and there will be two more Hot Ticket prizes up for grabs in the midweek game on Wednesday.

It won’t be easy to follow up a winning weekend like the one we have just had, but a couple of brand new lottery jackpots to pursue should help. The EuroMillions jackpot this Tuesday 18 March is expected to be worth around £12 million and the Lotto jackpot on Wednesday has an estimated value of £2.2 million.
