Brits have a Lotto work ethic

Last Updated: Thursday 7th July 2011, 16:02

I think most of the lottery playing public have at some time sat at our desks at work wishing the day away or more so wishing for a lotto win so we can wish our jobs away. How wonderful it would be to become an instant lottery millionaire, quit our jobs and live the life of luxury. But it seems that work gives us purpose and many of us just wouldn’t be able to drag ourselves away from the desks, even if we had a big lottery win.

In fact, according to a recent survey a massive 62% of us would continue to clock in and out every day even if we had a UK Lotto jackpot win! It’s a shocking statistic and certainty puts paid to the idea that we all want to retire early and live lives of luxury.

That’s well over half of people who buy lottery tickets that would continue to work, even if they had a UK Lotto jackpot win, it’s a very surprising figure and just goes to show that actually financial security isn’t what we are working for.

Work gives us purpose in our lives and after years of structured lives revolving round 9-5 many of us wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves, even if we had millions in the bank.

Personally I could make a career out of shoe shopping, especially if I scooped the bumper £71 million Euromillions jackpot this Friday evening. Stay at work? Probably not, but shhh! don’t tell the boss!
