How Would You Spend A Big National Lottery Jackpot?

Last Updated: Thursday 18th January 2018, 10:20

Ahead of a weekend which sees EuroMillions offer a jackpot of £66 million and Lotto offer a top prize of £17.1 million, players across the UK will be dreaming of how they might spend a huge amount of cash and it could be that they take inspiration from some recent big winners.

Beauty Treatments

Melissa Ede, a 57-year-old transgender taxi driver from Hull, won £4 million on a National Lottery scratchcard on 30th December and has already started splashing the cash. She quickly bought a pair of rubber gloves and a Henry hoover for 37-year-old partner Rachel, and has already spent money on beauty treatments for herself.

“I got fillers in my cheeks and lips. I look a lot younger and more feminine,” said Melissa, who is now planning to continue with the cosmetic surgery. “I’ve got the body I’ve always wanted but I’ve never been happy with my face. I can start changing that now. The new teeth are going to be coming and possibly a nose job and a mini facelift to take the saggy bits away.”

Melissa, who also plans to write an autobiography, is not the first lottery winner to spend some of their money on improving their looks. Jane Park, who shot to fame after winning £1 million on EuroMillions as a 17-year-old, is reported to have spent more than £50,000 on a variety of cosmetic treatments, including Botox, liposuction, a boob job and a Brazilian bum lift.

Ferrari

Cosmetic surgery is not for everyone of course, so you might prefer to take a leaf out of Amo Riselli’s book. The Gloucester man - also a taxi driver - won £24.5 million on Lotto on 27th December and quickly announced that he would be quitting his job. He now plans to swap his cab for a Ferrari, and also buy a new home with a swimming pool.

Celebrity House

A new home is one of the first items on many winners’ shopping list, and it emerged this week that Dave and Angela Dawes, who scooped a £101.2 million EuroMillions jackpot in October 2011, had bought the East Sussex mansion once owned by legendary singers Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdinck. The six-bedroom house is situated on a 56-acre estate and comes complete with a bar, cinema and boathouse by a lake.

You need to take part to have any chance of winning, and then spending, a big lottery jackpot, and you can get involved in Lotto or EuroMillions by either choosing numbers online or going to an authorised retailer. Good luck!
