Irish Lottery Jackpot Hits €8.5 Million

Last Updated: Monday 6th August 2012, 15:36

Irish Lottery players are getting excited about the draw tonight as the Irish Lottery jackpot has hit €8.5 million. Although this amount is estimated this is the highest jackpot that has been available to win this year in the Irish Lottery. This current top prize has been rolling over since 18th February 2012 therefore many players will be hoping that they can match all six of the main numbers drawn tonight be able to win the Irish Lottery jackpot.

The Irish Lottery jackpot has been won twice this year. The first win happened on the 25th January 2012 when one winning ticket, which was sold in the North West matched the numbers drawn to win just over €5.4 million. The second Irish Lottery jackpot win then happened on the 15th February 2012 when a ticket bought in Dublin won €4.8 million – so regardless of if the Irish Lottery jackpot is won tonight it is the largest top prize seen in this lottery for 2012.

The last time the Irish Lottery surpassed the €8 million mark was in September 2011. The jackpot in this lottery rolled over an impressive 13 times before a winning ticket which was bought by the McIntrye family from Betmullet matched the Irish Lottery results to win just over €11 million.

Whether this Irish Lottery jackpot will be won tonight or carry on rolling over remains to be seen, but make sure you have your tickets ready if you fancy winning the biggest Irish Lottery top prize so far for 2012.
