Lottery fever sweeps the US

Last Updated: Friday 16th January 2015, 10:11

Lottery fever sweeps the US this week as weekend rollovers create almost $400 million worth of US lottery jackpots. Both the Mega Millions Lottery and the Powerball Lottery rolled over yet again this weekend, creating combined jackpots of $395 million! Both jackpots have been growing for weeks and after lottery players were unsuccessful in both Friday night’s Mega Millions Lottery and Saturday’s Powerball Lottery we now see some monster jackpots to play for in the midweek draws.

The next Mega Millions Lottery draw is on Tuesday evening and the estimated jackpot for that is a staggering $143 million. Even taken as a lump sum this equates to over $80 million as no players matched all the winning numbers which were 10 – 16 – 31 – 48 – 50 and the Mega Ball 44.

In the Powerball Lottery there has also been no winners for weeks now and that means Wednesday night’s midweek lottery jackpot is an estimated $252 million. That jackpot is just over $120 million if taken as a lump sum as no players matched all the winning numbers 5 – 21 – 22 – 41 – 49 and the all important Powerball 15.

It’s understandable that lottery fever sweeps the US when you consider the size of these two massive lottery jackpots, two of the biggest of any of the world lottery draws right now.

Look out for our lottery news this week as we bring you all the results, winners and prizes from the midweek Mega Millions Lottery and Powerball Lottery draws.
