Lottery fund to help elderly

Last Updated: Thursday 24th September 2020, 15:48

A lottery package worth £20 million is to be dedicated to the elderly people of Wales to reduce social isolation and loneliness. The Big Lottery Fund is to give the money to various voluntary projects aiming to run for between three and five years. The Chair of AdvantAGE, a programme dedicated to improving lives of the elderly in Wales has said that isolation for elderly people can be incredibly damaging and this lottery cash will be a welcome relief and change the lives of many elderly residents in Wales.

The Lottery grants for good causes will be worth between £200,000 and £1 million with £20 on offer altogether and will be available to set up charitable projects around Wales which either encourage befriending an elderly person and encouraging social intervention. All cash will come from the lottery good causes fund and will be managed by the Big Lottery Fund.

Any welsh organisations who believe they could qualify for one of these lottery grants are being asked to send in an application to the Big Lottery Fund. All applications must be received by 29th October and grants will be decided and awarded after that time.

It’s just another way that the sale of lottery tickets is making lives better all around the UK and shows what a difference, your money makes. A massive 28p in every £1 lottery ticket sold goes to good causes in the UK and what a difference it makes.

Don’t forget it’s a rollover tomorrow evening and that means, not only will you be raising money for good causes but you’re also in line for an estimated £7 million jackpot!
