Lottery prize goes to charity

Last Updated: Tuesday 3rd July 2018, 12:29

Despite repeated appeals from us, and the National Lottery itself a £60,000 lottery prize has gone to charity. The prize, from a five plus the bonus win was worth £60,415 but despite many calls for the mystery winner to come forward, no one claimed the prize. It’s just one of several unclaimed lottery prizes to expire this month if the lucky (or unlucky) winners do not come forward.

If unclaimed, lottery prizes are added to the fund for good causes, plus any interest they have accrued and this five and the bonus prize is certainly a win for charity.

It was just a couple of weeks ago that we put out a plea for the lottery winner on our lottery news pages but despite that, the ticket sold in Telford never surfaced.

There are four more UK Lotto prizes all due to expire before the end of August if unclaimed, each of them a five and the bonus win. If you buy lottery tickets in Newcastle upon Tyne; The Borough of Tameside; West Lancashire or the Neath, Port Talbot area then you need to get on a search for old lottery tickets now. These are the four areas where life-changing lottery prizes will go to charity if no one claims them and someone out there must be holding a lucky lottery ticket.

Of course, the easiest way of ensuring you don’t have an unclaimed lottery prize is to buy your lottery tickets online. Buy lottery tickets online and you never have to worry about losing a ticket again and thanks to the National Lottery results service, you’ll even receive an email if you’re a lucky lottery winner!
