Lotto Cash for Cultural Advice Centre

Last Updated: Friday 25th September 2020, 15:09

Residents in Reading are celebrating after the city received a lottery grant worth a massive £320,000 for a cultural advice centre in the city. The charity, which offers culturally sensitive counselling in the Reading area has been granted the cash to support the centre and keep it running for another four years at least.

The centre itself is based in the town centre of Reading and is aptly named Mothertongue. It’s a charity that offers a listening ear to vulnerable people in the Reading area whose first language is not English.

Running for the last ten years the lottery cash for good causes will ensure that the charity can remain open and continue to give advice to non-English speaking people in the Reading area.

£320,000 from the good causes fund can pay for a lot of counsellors, which is something this charity needs as it offers advice and counselling in many different languages from its culturally sensitive counselling centre in Reading.

Beverley Costa, who founded the charity ten years ago was given the exciting news about the lottery grant yesterday morning and as might be expected is over the moon about the promise of such a huge amount of cash.

It’s just one of the many ways that sales of lottery tickets go to help many charities and local organisations around the UK, set up and continue to run without being a drain on the government. So keep buying those lottery tickets as a lottery grant or project could be coming to your community very soon.
