Lotto win confirmed on Facebook

Last Updated: Thursday 22nd January 2015, 09:22

A syndicate head let syndicate members know they had won the lottery by posting it on his Facebook status. Syndicate members were in for a shock when they logged on to see the status message read "We've won £2,625,215 on the Lotto. This is not a joke. Please call me, anyone who is in the syndicate, as soon as possible." The group are now in receipt of the £2.6 million win and Facebook is back in the news.

The lottery syndicate are made up of twenty-three members of airport baggage staff at Heathrow and each of them will now receive over £100,000, their share of the £2.6 million won. One of the syndicate members said she immediately thought it was a joke, although Mr Cotter the syndicate head regularly used Facebook to let syndicate members know they have won smaller amounts in the past.

It’s surely the best status update ever seen and we’re betting the other syndicate members would agree whole heartedly with us. £100,000 may not quite be enough to retire on but we’re sure it will brighten the mood at Heathrow for quite a while yet.

Mr Cotter himself will scoop a little more than the others, £400,000 as he has four shares in the syndicate, he says the win comes as no surprise as a fortune teller told him he was going to come into a big sum of money in December, a prophecy which has now come true.

The syndicate has been running for two years and the members buy lucky dip tickets each win, until now the most they had won was £40 but now each of them will be having a very happy Christmas courtesy of a winning lottery ticket.
