Luckiest Lottery town is Ilford

Last Updated: Friday 8th April 2011, 13:01

The National Lottery are always putting together fun statistics and one of these is each year’s luckiest lottery town. Medway in Kent has held the title for a while now but has just been overtaken by Ilford in Greater London, which now holds the title for luckiest UK lottery town. Since the lottery launched in 1994, more people in Ilford have won the lottery than any other town in the UK, now that’s some accolade, I’m sure you’ll agree!

Now we’re not sure that moving to Ilford is going to guarantee you a lottery win, but it’s certainly great news for residents. Figures from the National Lottery show that the town has picked up a massive £87 million in lottery jackpots since the National Lottery launched in 1994.

In second place on the lottery’s UK’s luckiest town list is Newcastle in Tyneside, where one in every 6,207 lottery players in the town has picked up a top prize on the Lotto, and then we see previous luckiest town Medway in Kent in third place.

Of course these figures are just fun, just like the lottery’s luckiest names and house numbers as everyone has exactly the same chance of winning a National Lottery jackpot. So don’t do anything as drastic as move house, the only way to really increase your chances is to buy more lottery tickets or put together your own lottery syndicate, playing with friends and increasing how many chances you get at the jackpot each week!
