Last Updated: Thursday 24th September 2020, 15:56

It’s the start of a brand new year and that of course means a new round of National Lottery awards for good causes around the UK. The National Lottery awards 2010 launch this week and the search is on to find the most worthy good causes around the UK to invest money from the sale of lottery tickets into.

This one, unlike the £244 million of lottery funding paid to the Heritage sector this year, will be chosen by the people and the search is on to find the UK’s favourite lottery funded heritage and other projects.

Every single week £25 million is raised by the UK Lotto for good causes, when you buy lotto tickets and this money turns back around to help people and communities across the UK.

You can nominate a project for the 2010 National Lottery awards by visiting the website or by telephone, all entries much be received by 5pm on Friday 12th February.

Then all the entrants that make it to the finals of the National Lottery awards 2010 will appear on a star-studded prime-time BBC1 TV show later in the year. This will give them a chance to receive further lottery funding and a possibly a chance to win £2,000 cash from the good causes fund.

Heritage isn’t the only category for the National Lottery Awards 2010, you can nominate projects from seven categories, each one showing one area of National Lottery funding for good causes. There is sport; Heritage; Arts; Environment: Voluntary/Charity; Health and education to choose from and this is one part of National Lottery funding that you can be part of.
